Welcome to West of England Cocker Spaniel Club
West of England Cocker Spaniel Club was first formed over 50 years ago in 1947. You can read more about the history of this long-established Club in the History section of this site.
We are a friendly Club holding at least two Open Shows every year. Our Open Show venue is Cricklade Town Hall, which is light & spacious & is very easy to get to, being situated just off the A419 (Swindon-Cirencester) . There is always a happy atmosphere at our Open Shows; in addition to the competition aspect, we have excellent home-made refreshments on sale all day & a well-supported book and produce stall. We have Championship Show status but due to the Kennel Club's decision to place most Cocker Breed Clubs on a rota, we only have a Championship Show every other year. In the years when we do not have a Championship Show, we generally hold another Open Show (subject to Kennel Club approval) at Cricklade. Our Championship Show "home" is Southwold Sports Centre at Yate, near Bristol, a modern leisure centre with a large hall & easy access from the motorway system.
In addition to the organisation of shows, the Club also produces a popular annual Newsletter which is free to all members. The newsletter contains details of all the Club's activities as well as many Cocker-related articles, some light-hearted & some serious which make for an interesting & entertaining read for all Cocker enthusiasts.
